On October 21, 2024, the Centre for Gender Studies, University of Benin (UNIBEN), welcomed the Secretary/Director of the OBO Foundation, Dr. Isoken Ibie Osagie, accompanied by the CEO, Founder/Global President of Women Helping Women for Sustainable Tomorrow, Her Excellency Prof. Elizabeth Pedro.
Ehisumwen Eriamiantoe reports that the guests were warmly received by the Director of the Centre for Gender Studies, UNIBEN, Prof. Adefunke Adekunle.
Dr. Osagie stated that her visit aimed to consolidate the partnership between her foundation and the Centre for Gender Studies, UNIBEN, and to reaffirm support for the forthcoming Sexuality and Development of a Healthy Lifestyle Workshop organized by the Centre. She expressed delight at the opportunity to collaborate and looked forward to more impactful joint ventures.
Prof. Pedro expressed pleasure at learning about the Centre for Gender Studies and commended Prof. Adekunle for the Centre’s laudable programs benefiting the university community. She emphasized the goal of making a positive societal impact. Prof. Pedro introduced the mission and vision of Women Helping Women for Sustainable Tomorrow, highlighting alignment with the Centre’s vision. She shared progress made by her organization and extended a partnership offer to the Centre.
In her remarks, Prof. Adekunle appreciated the visit and thanked the guests for their thoughtfulness in giving back to their ancestral land despite living in the diaspora. She expressed the Centre’s readiness to sustain partnerships with the OBO Foundation and Women Helping Women for Sustainable Tomorrow.
